Manhattan Movers and a Floral Park Overview

Floral Park is a community in Queens that you can visit with your Manhattan Movers, right on the border of Nassau County. You may be a little confused when you visit the area, because it is sometimes called "Glen Oaks" because that is how the U.S. Postal Service refers to it. The boundaries of Floral Park include Glen Oaks Village to the north of Union Turnpike, Little Neck Parkway to the west, Hillside Avenue to the south, and Langdale Street to the east.

Work on the farm

When you visit Floral Park with your Manhattan Movers, you will be very close to the Queens County Farm Museum in Bellerose. This is the city's largest undisturbed tract of farmland left, and it has been operating since 1697. It is also the only working historical farm that you can visit in the area. The farm features the original farm buildings from three different centuries, a greenhouse, livestock, vintage farm equipment, and some open planting fields. The original buildings still stand, the oldest dating back to 1772. When the farm was at its peak in 1900, it was the second largest farm in Queens County and the highest in dollar value. There are guided tours all year long, but if you visit between April and October, you can also go on a hay ride.

Take a trip in the area

There are many neighborhoods around Floral Park with interesting sites to visit with your Manhattan Movers. Within Queens, there is Queens Village, Glen Oaks, Bellerose, Cambria Heights, Laurelton, Rosedale, and Brookville. There is also New Hyde Park on the Nassau County side of the border. It is interesting to note that Laurelton, Rosedale, Cambria Heights, and St. Albans in Queens are the few neighborhoods where, according to the New York Times, "the median income among black households, nearing $52,000 a year, has surpassed that of whites in 2005, an analysis of census data shows. No other county with a population over 65,000 can make that claim". These areas are made up mostly of single family homes with manicured lawns. It really has a suburb feel when you visit with your Manhattan Movers.

Come fly with me

In the area near Floral Park, you will find John F. Kennedy Airport with your Manhattan Movers. This is the newest and busiest of New York City's three primary airports and it is the top international gateway to the United States. At JFK, you will find that JetBlue Airways has its base of operations here, as well as it is a major hub for Delta Air Lines and American Airlines. JFK Airport is well connected with the city, so you don't need your Manhattan Movers when you arrive. There is AirTrain JFK that will take you to two subway stations. To go from here to Midtown Manhattan takes about 30-40 minutes on the Long Island Railroad ($8-12) or 75 minutes on the subway ($2 - from Howard Beach-JFK Station or Sutphin Boulevard Station).

Visiting Floral Park with your Manhattan Movers can provide you with a unique experience to see Queens as those who live here do. There are many communities in the area that are well-off and there are some interesting sites nearby such as the Queens County Farm Museum and Belmont Race Track.
